๐Ÿ’›Two part nappies๐Ÿ’› These can be flat, contoured (e.g. Boho AI2 inserts) or shaped / fitted and need a wrap or cover over the top. Different from pocket and all in one nappies, there are two parts OTB. ๐ŸŒŸWhy are two part nappies better for the environment?๐ŸŒŸ 1. You invariably end up using less PUL, which is 100% polyester - the waterproof fabric which makes up the outside of an AIO, pocket or wrap. โœ… 1.b. PUL has a limited lifespan. Very few wraps last beyond 3-4 years of regular use (nature babies may be the exception here); And when it's gone it's gone... to make bunting if it's very lucky but usually landfill ๐Ÿ˜” 1.c. If the PUL fails, you don't have to get rid of any other fabrics that might make up a pocket or AIO.๐Ÿ˜ 2. Your nappies dry quicker so you need less of them! ๐ŸŒฌ Certainly with flat nappies this is true, and in a bind, hemp and cotton can be put on a radiator or even tumbled on low. 2.b. wraps dry super quick. 3. You can choose wool and completely avoid PUL. Even part time, this will save some PUL from eventually going to landfill. โ™ป๏ธ 4. Your PUL gets washed less often... maybe every 3 changes, saving overall on laundry. ๐Ÿ˜Ž ๐ŸŒŸWhy could they be better nappies?๐ŸŒŸ 1. They have better containment. ๐Ÿ’ฉ If there are two fastenings and two layers of fabric to get through, it's even less likely you'll have a leak if something goes wrong. You might have a double gusset wrap over a fitted nappy, effectively giving you a triple gusset and double elastic at the back! 2. They're better value.๐Ÿ’ฐ Depending on your choice, you will generally spend less overall with two part nappies. 2.b. If the nappies you're using are still working for you, but your wraps aren't you can change them, without having to buy new everything. 3. You can completely customise them. ๐Ÿ˜Š For example... You might choose a jersey flat, with a cotton booster and a rainbow fleece liner with a pin and a wool cover over the top. There's no all in one that will do that for you! 3.b. use the absorbency that works for your baby. Fold a muslin are the front, or put a hemp booster between a fitted and the wrap... wherever your baby wets most you can adjust your system. ๐Ÿ’ง
